Porcellio succinctus
Porcellio succinctus is another Spanish isopod that reaches impressive sizes of 2.5cm - the males even longer, including their uropods.
Although visually similar to P. expansus, succinctus has distinctly different morphology and is a completely different species. Males reach an impressive size, with very showy uropods, and females, like others in the Porcellio genus, are quite robust to facilitate brooding.
Succinctus are a seasonal breeder, producing young only once or twice a year, typically during the summer. They are found in limestone cliffs, so we recommend offering a hefty calcium source (ideally limestone, if possible). Due to their slow breeding rate, many keepers become frustrated with keeping this species, so patience is really high key in keeping it.
