Venezillo sp. "iriomotensis"
Sometimes called "Japan Red Edge" or shortened to "iriomote" these cute little tanks are really well breeding isopods. The name on this one is a bit confusing, because Cubaris iriomotensis is an already existing species; but as far as I know these have not been positively identified. I've also seen them labeled as Cubaris iriomotensis "Miyako", so it's difficult to differentiate the correct labeling on these.
Regardless, we do positively know they were initially collected and cultured in Japan, then imported from there.
These guys really enjoy burrowing and are quite fearless once taken out, barely staying rolled up at all. They're a lot of fun, especially with the bright flash of color on their skirting against the stark black base.
