Cubaris sp. "Blue pigeon"
This cultivar of Cubaris is a well breeding variety. They vary from a deep grey to a light base with dark stripes and an overall purple sheen. these animals are wider in comparison to many other isopods, adults may reach a total length of nearly 2cm as well. Their skirt dives deep and splays out the side, giving them an elegant appearance.
Not much is known about this particular cultivar of Cubaris. Apparently, they were collected in Thailand initially, but beyond that not much. Were they collected in a cave? Outside? Cliffside? Was the area infested with pigeons, or is the namesake due to their appearance and the initial collector was an ornithology enthusiast? Who knows.
Anyway, we can tell you how to keep these things alive. They like to enjoy a deep offering of substrate (4" or more), lots of decaying organic matter, a generous offering of calcium, some protein, and an overall moist setup.
Due to the sensitive nature of Cubaris, they are shipped overnight only.
